Welcome! The New Mexico Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission was created by the Supreme Court of New Mexico to improve the performance of judges and provide useful, credible information to voters on judges standing for retention. Judges must receive 57% voter approval to remain on the bench.

We will again be providing evaluations on judges standing for retention in 2024 at least 45 days prior to the general election, in September 2024. Please check back then!

Please note there are two places to vote for judges on this year's ballot. Judicial candidates running in a partisan election (identified by party) typically appear near the top of the ballot, and judges standing for retention (who are not running against another candidate) typically appear near the bottom of the ballot in a section labeled retention. NMJPEC only evaluates judges who are standing for retention.

Please review our evaluations and vote on ALL propositions and elections – including judicial retention elections. Your vote counts!
