Experience & Education: Judge Jewell was appointed in February 1996 and elected in November 1996. She presides over criminal, family law, and domestic violence cases. Prior to being appointed, she was the Special Commissioner of Domestic Violence cases for the 2nd Judicial District from 1988 to 1996 and the Legal Aid Domestic Violence Coordinator from 1985 to 1988. She served in private practice for seven years handling domestic relations cases. Judge Jewell received both her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of New Mexico.
