Evaluation: Judge DePauli received somewhat mixed ratings from the populations surveyed. For example, the court staff rated the judge very highly on all attributes, including his punctuality in commencing proceedings, displaying a sense of fairness, respecting all court employees, and respecting and cooperating with other judges. Attorneys rated the judge positively for ruling on motions and cases in a timely manner and being attentive to the proceedings. However, attorneys rate him lower for his knowledge of the law and for his treatment of self-represented litigants. Although this evaluation indicated some weaknesses, which were self acknowledged, the judge expressed his determination and commitment to improving his judicial skills.
Experience & Education: Judge DePauli was appointed as a District Judge in July 2006. He was elected District Judge in November 2006. Judge DePauli handles both criminal and civil cases. He received his undergraduate degree from New Mexico State University and his law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law. Judge DePauli's prior experience involved criminal defense, domestic and family law. He served briefly as an Assistant District Attorney.
