Evaluation: Judge Martinez received generally positive ratings from the populations surveyed. Among attorneys, he scored well on treating self-represented litigants fairly, being attentive to the proceedings, and for his dignified demeanor. The court staff rated him well for conducting himself in a proper manner, displaying a sense of fairness, and for respecting and cooperating with other judges. Among resource staff (e.g. law enforcement officers), he scored well for being courteous to all participants and for conducting himself in a proper manner. However, attorneys rated Judge Martinez slightly lower when it comes to punctuality in commencing proceedings and his knowledge and application of the law. In addition, the court staff rated the judge lower for punctuality in commencing proceedings and maintaining appropriate hours given the workload. Judge Martinez has indicated a willingness to improve his performance in these areas.
