Evaluation: Judge McDonald received positive scores from attorneys and court staff, but somewhat lower but still positive scores among some of the resource staff (e.g. law enforcement and probation officers). Attorneys gave the judge positive ratings for his demeanor, courteousness, and conduct. His written decisions and communications were rated as clear, thorough and logical. Court staff gave the judge positive ratings in his demeanor and his punctuality in commencing proceedings. Some of the resource staff gave the judge positive scores in the areas of proper conduct and maintaining proper control over proceedings. Some of the resource staff gave the judge somewhat lower scores in commencing proceedings on time, in promptness in scheduling hearings and trials and displaying a sense of fairness and impartiality.

Experience & Education: Judge McDonald presently serves as the Chief Judge of the Thirteenth Judicial District and has served as a District Court Judge since April 1992. Prior to this, he practiced law for 10 years. Judge McDonald received his undergraduate degree from New Mexico State University and his law degree from St. Mary's University.
