Evaluation: Judge Albert Mitchell, Jr. received somewhat positive ratings from attorneys and resource staff (e.g., law enforcement, probation and parole officers, interpreters, etc.), and his scores among the court staff are quite positive in all areas surveyed. Attorneys rated him positively for his attentiveness to proceedings, maintaining proper control over the proceedings and for ensuring his personal staff is professional, productive, and knowledgeable. However, he received slightly lower scores among attorneys when it comes to his written and oral decisions being clear, thorough, and logical. Judge Mitchell has indicated his commitment to continue to improve in these areas.

Experience & Education: Judge Mitchell was elected to the 10th Judicial District Court in 2008. Prior to being elected to the bench, Judge Mitchell was in private practice for approximately 24 years, practicing in the areas of general civil practice with a focus on real estate and business law, estate planning, and probate. He worked as a contract public defender and contract Children's Court (children and respondents') attorney. Judge Mitchell graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1984.
